Can Shopware accept Bitcoin?
Yes. Shopware stores can add payment methods through plugins. A compatible payment plugin adds Bitcoin at checkout and connects the store to a BTCPay store.
After an order is placed, a BTCPay invoice is created. The customer pays through the BTCPay checkout while the store and payment server coordinate the order status. Before launch, we test order creation, invoice generation, payment detection and status transitions end to end.
Is my Shopware store compatible?
Shopware, PHP and payment plugins continue to evolve. We therefore avoid a fixed version claim. Before every setup, we review the current system, select a suitable plugin version and test the payment flow before launch.
- Current system: Shopware, PHP and the payment plugin are reviewed together.
- Technical access: Extension-management access is required for installation and configuration.
- Staging recommended: installations and updates should be tested before production use.
- Custom extensions: themes, checkout customisations and other payment plugins may require additional work.
How the Shopware Bitcoin integration works
- Review the store and versions. We check Shopware, PHP, HTTPS, extensions, checkout customisations and existing payment methods.
- Prepare backups and a test path. A backup and controlled rollback path are established before plugin installation.
- Connect the BTCPay store and wallet. A logically separated merchant store is configured and linked to the merchant's own wallet infrastructure.
- Install the Shopware extension. The compatible extension is installed, activated and configured for the relevant sales channel.
- Test the payment flow. Order, BTCPay invoice, Bitcoin payment and Shopware payment status are tested end to end.
- Operate the service. After launch, we provide monitoring, controlled updates, backups and technical support.

How much does it cost to accept Bitcoin on Shopware?
The standard setup costs 99 EUR as a one-time fee. The ongoing managed service starts at 29 EUR per month and increases in tiers according to monthly Bitcoin on-chain payment volume. NetPayCrypto does not charge a percentage transaction fee.
Bitcoin network fees and costs for hosting, Shopware licences, extensions, wallet services or exchanges may still apply. A heavily customised checkout or unsupported system version may require an individual quote.
Current service scope and limitations
- Lightning: Bitcoin On-Chain is the standard service. Lightning can be added only by individual written agreement, using a merchant-controlled node or Lightning connection and after documented pre-live acceptance. Altcoin payments are not included.
- No automatic fiat settlement: NetPayCrypto does not currently convert payments to euros automatically.
- No custody: NetPayCrypto does not hold merchant funds and never needs the seed phrase.
- Compatibility: The current Shopware, PHP and plugin versions are checked before setup and major updates.
- Updates: Major Shopware, PHP, theme or plugin updates must be checked in advance.
- Legal and tax matters: Merchants should clarify the legal and tax treatment with qualified advisers.
Frequently asked questions
Can Shopware accept Bitcoin payments?
Yes. A compatible payment plugin connects Shopware to BTCPay Server and adds Bitcoin at checkout.
How is Shopware connected to BTCPay Server?
The connection uses a Shopware payment plugin. NetPayCrypto handles selection, installation, configuration and payment testing.
Which Shopware version is supported?
We review the current Shopware, PHP and plugin versions before every setup. This avoids fixed version claims and confirms compatibility for the individual store.
Does the service support Lightning?
Yes, by individual written agreement. The merchant must control its own node or Lightning connection. NetPayCrypto does not operate a shared merchant balance or receive node seeds or private keys. Channels, inbound liquidity, backup and recovery, monitoring and an end-to-end test using a real payment must be accepted before launch.
Who controls the Bitcoin?
The merchant connects their own wallet infrastructure and retains control. NetPayCrypto does not hold Bitcoin and never needs the seed phrase.
Are payments automatically settled in euros?
No. Automatic fiat settlement is not currently part of the service.
